Metrocem re-launches logo (Financial Express)


Metrocem Cement Limited, a cement manufacturer in Bangladesh, Saturday re-launched its logo and packet with a promise to significantly enhance its production maintaining better quality. The company will increase its production capacity from 1,000 metric tones to 2,500 metric tones within the next few months, officials disclosed at the logo and packet re-launching program held at a hotel in the city. Forecasting the cement demand as to be doubled within the next eight years in Bangladesh, they said, “Metrocem Cement planned to increase its production capacity to meet the country’s future demand.” Prof Dr. Engineer Shamim Z. Bosunia, president of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), was the chief guest at the function, which was addressed, among others, by Md Shahidullah, managing director of the Metrocem Cement, M Fakrul Alam, managing director of the One Bank, Md Habibur Rahman, managing director of the Al-Arafah Bank, M Shahidul Islam, additional managing director of the United Commercial Bank, Masudul Alam Masud, president of Bangladesh Auto re-Rolling and Steel Mills Association (BARSMA) and high officials of the Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association (BCMA). Metrocem Group, parent company of the Metrocem Cement, started its journey in 1988. Since its launching of cement industry in 2003, its created a high value in the market. The group always emphasized on new technologies and adequate involvement of essential initiatives to reach the summit as their foremost motto, officials said. As continuation of the process, the Metrocem Cement Ltd has emerged with the modern era, and is looking to move forward, they added. Mr Bosunia urged all the cement companies to be careful to maintain standard and good quality in manufacturing cement. Mentioning that some big companies were deceitfully advertising their firms’ cement strength, the IEB president said that the institution is thinking to sue the ‘dishonest’ companies. Appreciating the Metrocem Cement for its business, Mr Bosunia wised better future and success to the company in the future. Mr. Md Shahidullah said that the demand for cement and rod will continuously increase for the development for the country in the years coming. Bangladesh now manufactures international quality cement. Apart from the present plan to increase its current production by 150 per cent, the Metrocem Cement managing director said the company is thinking to design its further expansion after three years. In a query why the company went for expansion even after the saturated cement production, Mr Md Shahidullah said that the demand for cement will be doubled in the next years if the vision 2021 is implemented. “Metrocem has a reputation for technological innovation.
